Fire Cloud Chemical-detecting drone

Fire Cloud Chemical-detecting drone

Before tackling a blaze, the Twente fire service is keen to know whether there are any chemicals inside the building and whether any toxic fumes have been released. Due to the high risk of explosion and the extreme heat, it is not possible for humans to conduct such experimental checks, which is why it makes sense to investigate whether drones could be used for this purpose in the future.

Objective: To develop a robot that, aided by nanotechnology, can perform tests in extremely hot, smoke-filled environments so that it can be used by fire services to carry out such checks before tackling a fire.
