On 10 October, during the European Week of Cities and Regions in Brussels, City of Enschede with support of Space53, organised the Drone City Conference on the role of cities in the development, application and public acceptance of drones. Invited participants were the project partners of the Interreg Europe project Aerial Uptake, of which City of Enschede is lead partner, together with representatives of the European Innovation Partnership and the Urban Air Mobility initiative, and amongst others, Koen de Vos of the European Commission and Dutch MEP Matthijs van Miltenburg.
Unlike the Missing Link conference, organized by Enschede, Province of Overijssel and Nokia in 2017, this conference was small scale and intended primarily as an informal introduction with the Aerial Uptake project partners. In addition, City of Enschede intended to bridge the networks of UAM and Aerial Uptake. This was appreciated by all participants, some of whom had travelled to Brussels just for this meeting.
